About me

Hi there! My name is Max Abel and I’m a music producer and filmcomposer from Rotterdam, NL.
At the age of 14, my parents gave me an eight-track harddisk recorder which kickstarted my music production journey. I used to record covers of my favourite post-punk revival bands by recording all the instruments myself in my bedroom, while my friends were skateboarding and chasing girls. Speaking of setting priorities!
Anyway, after high school I enrolled in Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam to study Music Production. After my studies I further refined my skills in studio engineering, producing and composition by recording with different bands and artists, as well as by playing various instruments in different live bands.

Looking for a new challenge, I decided to audition for a Masters degree in Composing for Film, a study at both the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Nederlandse Filmacademie. I got in, and I worked intensively with very talented Filmacedemy students, scoring their graduation films. I was even lucky enough to win the Keep An Eye Film Filmscore Award 2021 with my score for the short film COCON by Lisette Vlassak.

Please feel free to contact me, if you’re curious in how I could contribute to your project!
